Deuteronomy 23:10

The last two weeks of crazy Bible verses focused on semen.  I decided to do one more semen crazed Bible verse and next week I promise I’ll move on to something else.  🙂

“If one of your men is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, he is to go outside the camp and stay there.” – Deuteronomy 23:10

God may not be concerned about sending clear messages to people on important issues, but he is definitely concerned about semen!  I’m not sure if God is more concerned about semen or foreskin!  This verse states that a man who emits semen must leave the camp and stay there.  That’s a bit harsh.  I agree the man should clean up before going out in public, but leaving the camp?  What’s the purpose?  The next verse does provide a way to get back into camp.

“But as evening approaches he is to wash himself, and at sunset he may return to the camp.” – Deuteronomy 23:11

Why can’t he wash himself before evening?  Why can’t he wash himself immediately and avoid leaving camp?  I guess God works in mysterious ways!  🙂 To me, this is evidence the author find semen icky and chooses to denounce it by claiming it is the word of God.  If there really is a God and it’s the God of the Bible, He has His priorities messed up!
