Exodus – Chapter 35: Sabbath Regulations

Quite a bit happened in Exodus 34.  God commanded Moses to write down His laws on a second set of tablets.  The second set of tablets does NOT contain what Christians refer to as the ten commandments.  The second tablets contain everything on the first, plus more, which goes way beyond the ten commandments.  Yet all of these other laws are conveniently ignored by Christians.  Many Christians want statues of the ten commandments placed on public property, but only ignore the other laws that were on the tablets God commanded Moses to create.  God, in Exodus 35, makes it clear what the rules of the Sabbath are.

“For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.” – Exodus 35:2

Most everyone ignores the Sabbath.  According to God, most everyone should be put to death for ignoring the Sabbath.

“Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.” – Exodus 35:3

Resting on the Sabbath is not enough.  Do not light a fire either!

“From what you have, take an offering for the Lord.” – Exodus 35:5

Even if you are poor, you must give what you have to the Lord.  Too many of today’s poor give money they don’t have to the church and for what reason?  Does God help them?  No.  They do it for the promise of an afterlife in heaven, yet no such evidence exists.  These people are giving up the only life they have because they are tricked by the church into giving the little money they have.  Church giving is nothing more than a scam.

The next several verses describe all the things the people gave and did for the Lord at this time.  The message I take away from this chapter is the very clear rules God makes regarding the Sabbath.  As clear as God has been on these rules, people today routinely ignore them.  Honoring the Sabbath is one of the ten commandments for crying out loud, but Christians today almost always avoid resting on the seventh day.  Yet the gays and the transgenders are Satan trying to take over the world.  Sigh.
