Acts 12:23

It’s well known that God kills and commands the killing of many people in the Old Testament.  This is often brushed away by Christians who state Jesus came along in the New Testament to be more forgiving and loving.  Jesus is God according to Christians.  Yet there are several examples of God NOT being loving and forgiving in the New Testament.  For this week’s crazy Bible verse, I bring forth Acts 12:23 to show the New Testament God being just as evil as the Old Testament God.

“Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.” – Acts 12:23

Herod does not praise God and God sends an angel to kill Herod.  Did God give Herod a chance to explain?  No.  Did God give Herod a chance to change his mind?  No.  God immediately killed Herod.  That’s not love.  That’s not forgiveness.  That’s pure evil.  We already know Jesus honored all of the old laws in the Old Testament.  That’s clear from Matthew 5:17.  Acts 12:23 is just another example of God continuing to be evil.
