Matthew 11:20-24

Crazy Bible Verse Tuesday is currently on a theme of Jesus being not so nice and loving in the Bible.  Here’s another example from the book of Matthew.

“Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. ‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.’” – Matthew 11:20-24

So some people in these towns did not believe in Jesus’ miracles.  Jesus’ response?  Hatred and condemnation.  To Hell with you!!!  This is peace?  This is love?  Jesus, the son of God, and God Himself according to many Christian denominations, has no other recourse but to send you to Hell?  Seriously?  On top of that, Jesus is assuming EVERYONE in the town has not repented.  You’re telling me there are no repenters in the town?  No young children who have no say in the matter?  One can reasonably conclude that Jesus, in addition to condemning adults to Hell, is condemning innocent children and babies to Hell.

  1. exactly the response of Muhammed when mecca refused his first message of ‘love and peace’ they kicked him out, he went to medina where they were more ‘receptive’. then he went back to mecca and spread his ‘Love’ by killing and murdering as many people as he needed to in order for them as a city and region to ‘freely’ accept islam.
and it’s worked that way ever since. the crusades were actually the church’s misguided attempts at self defense against ‘the religion of peace’ and it’s first efforts at taking over that part of the world. Ain’t Love Grand?

  2. Amazing. When one actually reads the bible there is little good to learn.
Always killing. Temper tantrums. Genocides. Wars. Famines. Diseases. Death.
