Deuteronomy – Chapter 11: Love and Obey the Lord

It may be April Fool’s Day, but I assure you that Deuteronomy 11 is no joke!

“Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always.” – Deuteronomy 11:1

Including the requirements to murder and rape foreigners.

“So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul—“ – Deuteronomy 11:13

And to murder and rape the foreigners.

“Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” – Deuteronomy 11:19

Indoctrinate your children such that they are unable to think for themselves.  Thinking is bad.  Very bad.

“If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him and to hold fast to him—“ – Deuteronomy 11:22

And to murder and rape the foreigners.

“When you have taken it over and are living there, be sure that you obey all the decrees and laws I am setting before you today.” – Deuteronomy 11:31-32

And don’t forget to murder and rape the foreigners.

Okay, I admit I was a bit repetitive in my analysis of Deuteronomy 11.  However, on the trek to the promised land, the Israelites are ordered by God to murder and rape the peoples they come across.  This is conveniently ignored in this chapter and replaced with God’s love.  No, there is no love.  A loving being doesn’t require his people to murder and rape.  A loving being doesn’t require his people to fear him.  There is no loving being in the Bible.

  1. So what you’re saying is that all the claims that the Bible shows that God is a God of love… are taken out of context.
