Today I move from 1 Samuel back to Psalms. The book of Psalms has several chapters devoted to David, so there’s a lot of back and forth between chapters for awhile.
“Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me…” – Psalms 7:1
Good luck with that given God has commanded the slaughter of children and babies several times.
“Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies.” – Psalms 7:6
David is right in that God has a lot of anger. It’s a 50/50 chance he will rage against your enemies though. He’s just as likely to rage against you and other innocent people.
“Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—“ – Psalms 7:9
ROFL! God created evil for his own jollies. He’s certainly not going to end it!
“My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.” – Psalms 7:10
God most high? This is the same god who kills children and babies. Most high my ass.
“God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day.” – Psalms 7:11
Righteous? No. Displays wrath? Yes, often on innocent people.
“Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.” – Psalms 7:14
God is the one pregnant with evil. That is clearly stated in Isaiah 45:7
“I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” – Psalms 7:17
Then you give thanks to an evil god who kills children, babies, and other innocent people. You give thanks to a god who rapes women, literally in the case of Mary in the New Testament.
Like many chapters in Psalms, David is giving thanks to God. Unfortunately that thanks is given to a god who has shown he is evil over and over and over in the Bible. You can’t kill innocent children and babies and be righteous. That is pure evil.9
