Psalms – Chapter 103: Of David.

We have Psalms 103 in front of us today.  Let’s dig right in.

“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” – Psalms 103:2-5

This is factually incorrect.  God does not heal diseases.  Everyday people die of diseases God did not heal.  You can’t simply say God works in mysterious ways and therefore be okay with people dying of diseases that God supposedly healed.

“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.” – Psalms 103:6

ROFL!  Please tell me this is satire?  It is satire, right?  No?  Oh for fuck’s sake.  The Lord is righteous?  ROFL!

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” – Psalms 103:8

A direct contradiction to the rest of the Bible that describes God as a jealous god who is quick to anger.  The authors are not even trying to hide their lies at this point.

“He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;” – Psalms 103:9

But he will punish the children of those who do badly for several generations.  I guess that’s not forever, but not exactly the sign of a compassionate or just god.

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;” – Psalms 103:11

Does this mean the heavens hover just a few nanometers above the surface?  😊

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him” – Psalms 103:13

The key word in this verse is ‘fear’.  God has compassion, but only if you FEAR him.  That’s not love.  That’s abuse.

“The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.” – Psalms 103:15-16

Like grass?  I look out the window and see the window blowing the grass, but the grass is still there, alive and as well as ever.  Does this god even know what grass is?  Or wind?

“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,” – Psalms 103:17

Again, God demands you fear him.  This is disgusting.  It’s not love, it is abuse.  No loving god demands your fear.

What a disgusting piece of shit for a chapter.  Morals?  Is it moral to demand your fear?  No!  A parent who rules with fear is likely abusing their child.  God doesn’t rule with compassion.  He’s a child abuser and Christians are his children.  Me?  I fled.  I wasn’t putting up with this abuse anymore and neither should you.
