As is the pattern in this part of the Bible, we continue to switch back and forth between chapters to stick to chronological order as close as possible. Today we move from 1 Chronicles to the book of Psalms, looking at the very first chapter in Psalms.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.” – Psalm 1:1-2
What’s not mentioned is ‘wicked’ is defined by anyone who doesn’t follow every one of God’s commands, including those to murder or rape others.
“For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.” – Psalm 1:6
Does he? How many of the righteous, who have done everything God has asked, die horrible deaths? Is that God watching over them? Oh, let me guess, they just didn’t pray hard enough or love God enough or fear God enough. The goal posts are always pushed back when it comes to God watching over you.
Psalm 1 is a short chapter basically stating that if you do wicked things you will suffer. Are these things anymore wicked than the death and destruction at the direct hands of this god?
