Why, oh why, does the book of Psalms have sooooo many chapters? 😊 Today’s chapter is Psalm 24.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.” – Psalm 24:1-2
That’s a heavy dose of bad science. The Earth was founded on the seas? Established on the waters? Sure, water covers 70% of the planet, but it doesn’t go very deep. The Earth is almost entire rock and metals. I guess it’s too much to ask God to include correct science in a book that is supposedly the ‘breath of God’. 😊
“Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart…” – Psalm 24:3-4
In other words, no one. Job is described as ‘perfect’ by God in the Bible. Yet Job was punished horribly.
“They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior.” – Psalm 24:5
The same blessing of a dead family that Job received? No thanks.
“The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory.” – Psalm 24:10
Not a king of glory. The evidence in the Bible points to a king of death, destruction, and hate.
Psalm 24 is a chapter, as are many chapters in the Bible, that describe God as this wonderful being. It is so easy, however, to read other chapters, such as Job, in which we directly see how horrible God is and how empty his promises really are. The quickest path to Atheism? Reading the Bible.
