Psalm – Chapter 29: A psalm of David.

The book of Psalms would be much more interesting if it had far fewer chapters.  😊  Let’s jump right in and see what Psalm 29 says to us.

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” – Psalm 29:2

No thanks.  I don’t worship murderers and rapists.

“The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” – Psalm 29:4

Those are interesting words given God speaks to only Moses and prophets.  It’s almost as if these few people God speaks to are just making things up for their own gain.  Hmm…  😊

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” – Psalm 29:11

Except the entire Bible contradicts this peace statement.  Sigh.

Once again, the book of Psalms attempts to glorify God as great and mighty.  The problem, of course, is the Bible itself.  Reading the Bible shows us the deep contradictions.  God oppresses the Israelites.  He doesn’t bring them peace.  God isn’t majestic.  He demands others murder and rape in his name.  Other times he does the murder directly himself.
