Oh ye book of Psalms, our favorite book of the Bible. Wait, it’s not your favorite book? How odd? 😊 Okay, enough joking around. Let’s look at Psalm 50.
“Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.” – Psalm 50:3
Okay, this is certainly true. God rages, especially when he’s pissy.
“And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice.” – Psalm 50:6
LOL! What a joke of a verse! Righteous? Just? More like a murderer.
“I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.” – Psalm 50:9-10
Then why all the fucking rules on which animals can be sacrificed and which cannot, along with the rules on how exactly to do the sacrifice?
“Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?” – Psalm 50:13
Well, God does a lot of dumb shit, so drinking goat blood doesn’t surprise me one bit!
“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you.” – Psalm 50:22
That’s all find and dandy, but what about all those people who did not forget God but were also torn to pieces, murdered, raped, destroyed, etc.? Sorry God, but this is an empty threat.
Psalm 50 is an interesting chapter in which God brags about how great he is and then ends by threatening those who do not follow him. It basically boils down to God saying “do exactly what I say and exactly when I say to do it, but don’t you dare question me in anyway or I will destroy you.” A righteous and just god as this chapter describes? I think not.
