Hosea – Chapter 8: Israel to Reap the Whirlwind

Based on the title of this chapter, Israel, after being punished, is about to “reap the whirlwinds”!

“But Israel has rejected what is good; an enemy will pursue him.” – Hosea 8:3

Are the Israelites rejecting good? They are rejecting God and God has murdered and raped, so hardly is God good.

“Ephraim has sold herself to lovers.” – Hosea 8:9

God is nothing but a jealous, angry, and abusive husband/boyfriend.

“Now he will remember their wickedness  and punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.” – Hosea 8:13

Back to Egypt, let us not forget, where God forced the Egyptians to harm the Israelites by hardening the Egyptians heart.

God is still pissy. It leaves the question of how many innocent children and babies are dying at the hands of God as he punishes the Israelites.

Biblical Knowledge

I love this meme because it is true! I’m a fan of the Dogma Debate podcast by David Smalley. So often he is speaking to a Christian guest and points out something in the Bible. The Christian guest responds by saying that isn’t in the Bible. David gives the Smalley sigh and then asks the Christian guest to open their bible up to a specific book and verse and immediately proves that yes, it is in the Bible. Atheists know the Bible because many of them read it and reading it de-converted them!

Hosea – Chapter 7: Untitled

As I read through Hosea I consider the cognitive dissonance one must have to think this is a book of morals. God is only helping those who beg for his mercy. Why are they begging for his mercy? Because God unjustly punished them! Sigh.

“They are all adulterers,” – Hosea 7:4

Yes, because the children are adulterers too. And those whore babies whoring themselves out everywhere!

“Foreigners sap his strength” – Hosea 7:9

Here is the Christian justification for xenophobia and bigotry.

“I long to redeem them but they speak about me falsely.” – Hosea 7:13

See, God really does want to help, but the people said mean things to an all-powerful and all-knowledgeable god. Sheesh.

“For this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.” – Hosea 7:16

Including the children and babies.

One thing to never forget is that when God says ‘all’ he truly means all. This is specifically spelled out in many verses. Look back to the many verses on God punishing generations upon generations of descendants. All of these verses on punishment include innocent babies and children. That’s the Christian god.

Hosea – Chapter 6: Israel Unrepentant

God continues his unjust rule in Hosea. Blood, death, destruction, misery, and punishment are God’s fetishes.

“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us;” – Hosea 6:1

At this point how stupid to you have to be to think the Lord is going to heal you?

“After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.” – Hosea 6:2

A just god would restore you immediately, not 2-3 days from now.

“As at Adam, they have broken the covenant; they were unfaithful to me there.” – Hosea 6:7

LOL! Adam was punished for trying to obtain knowledge and now God is punishing the Israelites for lacking knowledge.

God…the asshole.

Hosea – Chapter 5: Judgment Against Israel

The title tells us more judgement against Israel is coming. Not sure how that is possible after the last chapter, but here we go. 🙂

“The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter. I will discipline all of them.” – Hosea 5:2

More blood spilled. What a surprise.

“They are unfaithful to the Lord; they give birth to illegitimate children.” – Hosea 5:7

Let’s punish children more by calling them illegitimate. Is it illegitimate to bear a child with your God approved 50th wife?

“Then I will return to my lair  until they have borne their guilt and seek my face—in their misery they will earnestly seek me.” – Hosea 5:15

God’s plan is to make the people so miserable they have to crawl back to him. Here’s a thought…try LOVING your people.

Wow, God is an asshole and this chapter proves it once again. God’s goal is to punish people into submission. To make their lives so miserable they have no choice but to submit their will to him. Satan is far more just than God.

Hosea – Chapter 4: The Charge Against Israel

Our journey through Hosea continues today with the fourth chapter.

“Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites,  because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: ‘There is no faithfulness, no love,  no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.’” – Hosea 4:1-2

So the Israelites are about to be punished by God for doing the same things that God did? God murdered. God committed adultery. God steals lands from people. God does all of this, but the Israelites are being punished. God needs to punish himself.

“Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away;” – Hosea 4:3

More children and babies killed.

“So I will destroy your mother-my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” – Hosea 4:5-6

The people are destroyed by the lack of knowledge. Knowledge that God time and time again tells people to avoid. Sigh.

“because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.” – Hosea 4:6

More children and babies punished.

“The Israelites are stubborn, like a stubborn heifer.” – Hosea 4:16

God, the most stubborn of all, is complaining because the people are stubborn. ROFL!

Well, what to say about this chapter? For starters, God is pissy. Because he’s pissy he’s punishing everyone, resulting in more pain, suffering, and death of the people, including children and babies. Let me be simple. God is a murderer.

Hosea – Chapter 3: Hosea’s Reconciliation With His Wife

In the last chapter of Hosea there was a verse about stripping your mother naked. Seriously. Really seriously! LOL! What will this chapter bring? Let’s find out.

“The Lord said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lordloves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.’” – Hosea 3:1

To start, this is once again an attack on women. Men are allowed to have multiple wives all the time in the Bible, but once a woman seeks love, all bets are off. And ‘love the sacred raisin cakes’??? Um…I looked and someone really needs to add this to Urban Dictionary!!!

“So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and about a homer and a lethek of barley.  Then I told her, ‘You are to live with me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will behave the same way toward you.’” – Hosea 3:2-3

Wow! God tells Hosea to love his wife and Hosea gives her some shekels and barley!?!!?! And then commands her what to do. Wow. Hosea is the definition of a privileged male. Thinks he can just buy a woman off.

Here’s one word to describe this chapter. Misogynistic.

Busy Summer

Here’s a quick post to let everyone know that this blog has not ended. It’s a busy time for me and I’m a bit behind in keeping up with daily posts. Posts will still come, but may be more sporadic for the next couple of months until life is a bit less hectic. 🙂 Nothing to worry, this happened last summer too. Summer just gets busy for me.

Hosea – Chapter 2: Israel Punished and Restored

In the first chapter of Hosea we learned God commanded Hosea to marry a promiscuous woman and name his kids demeaning names. Seriously, that is exactly what happened in the first chapter! On the bright side, no killing, yet. 🙂

“Rebuke your mother, rebuke her,  for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband.” – Hosea 2:2

Rebuke your mother because she is not your wife and you are not her husband? Um….okay.

“Otherwise I will strip her naked and make her as bare as on the day she was born;” – Hosea 2:3

You’re going to strip your mother naked? Um…okay.

“I will not show my love to her children, because they are the children of adultery.” – Hosea 2:4

Blame children for something they didn’t do. That’s the godly way!

“So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands.” – Hosea 2:10

Controlling women. Biblical morals at their finest.

“‘In that day,’ declares the Lord, ‘you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’’” – Hosea 2:16

God is cucking all husbands out there without first getting consent. It’s the Biblical way. Do what you want with women without caring once about consent.

“I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.” – Hosea 2:23

God once again taking what is not his.

What did we learn in this chapter? Rebuke your mother or you’ll have to strip her naked. Yep, that’s what this chapter said! Then we learned God takes women and does what he wants with them without first getting consent. God, the creator of rape. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but Christians and their book of morals can go fuck themselves.
