Isaiah – Chapter 43: Israel’s Only Savior

Time to discover who Israel’s only savior is! Hint: It’s God! 🙂

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1

The you are mine part of this statement is straight out of a horror movie.

“When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” – Isaiah 43:2

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you;” – Isaiah 43:5

Until I’m not and then I’ll (God) will kill you.

“Before me no god was formed,  nor will there be one after me.” – Isaiah 43:10

Except of course, the Christian god who was also created by humans.

“I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.” – Isaiah 43:11

God thinks pretty highly of himself.

“You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored me with your sacrifices.” – Isaiah 43:23

Oh no, never fuck with God’s burnt offerings!!!

“But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.” – Isaiah 43:24

How is it possible for an all-powerful, all-knowing god to be burdened by human sins?

God is a petty being. That’s all for this chapter.

  1. Before, what does it mean by before. Before what. Does that mean the before ended after the before. This is so confusing because it implied an after. After the before then what, the then? When does the then become the before? Religion…..
