Isaiah – Chapter 50: Israel’s Sin and the Servant’s Obedience

We continue in the book of Isaiah today with Chapter 50.

“Because of your sins you were sold; because of your transgressions your mother was sent away.” – Isaiah 50:1

God has punished the mother for the sins of the son. SMH.

“The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.” – Isaiah 50:4

Um…sure.

“But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires  and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand:  You will lie down in torment.” – Isaiah 50:11

In other words, don’t you dare think for yourself. The flaming torches are the light of your own critical thinking and God doesn’t want you thinking on your own.

Sigh…another chapter in which God punishes critical thinking.
