2 Chronicles – Chapter 36: Jehoahaz King of Judah

We recently finished 2 Kings and today we finish the last chapter of 2 Chronicles. The two books mirror each other very closely.

“Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months.  The king of Egypt dethroned him in Jerusalem and imposed on Judah a levy of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.” – 2 Chronicles 36:2-3

God sure is bringing peace to the land.

“Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God.” – 2 Chronicles 36:5

No surprise there. God sees a lot of evil in people.

“Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.” – 2 Chronicles 36:9

More evil.

“Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.  He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the word of the Lord.” – 2 Chronicles 36:11-12

More evil. Maybe a woman should take over. There’d be a hell of a lot less evil.

And that ends the book of 2 Chronicles. Lots of kings and lots of evil. Now who was it that introduced evil to the world? Oh yeah, God! See Isaiah 45:7

  1. Interesting historical parallels here. This god thing, Trump and the way they communicate their displeasure with the Troublesome minions they oversee. They both tweet and the godly equivalent.
