Today I bring you another quote from the late, great Carl Sagan.
“You simply turn your mind off and say God did it.” – Carl Sagan
Yes, this! This is what far too many people do. If times get tough, they shut off their minds and say God did it (or God will fix it). That’s not how the real world works. There is no evidence a god has ever done anything to help humans. Show me the evidence and I’m a believer, but I’ve seen nothing that actually provides evidence for the existence of a god. I wish it were that easy, but it simply isn’t.
Today’s Atheism quote comes from the late Carl Sagan.
“Finding the occasional straw of truth awash in a great ocean of confusion and bamboozle requires intelligence, vigilance, dedication and courage. But if we don’t practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the truly serious problems that face us — and we risk becoming a nation of suckers, up for grabs by the next charlatan who comes along.” – Carl Sagan
A great quote but I worry we are far past the stage of becoming a nation of suckers. We are already there. In my view it’s a question if we can move back to the days we were only worried about being suckers.
Today’s Atheism quote comes from the great Carl Sagan.
“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” – Carl Sagan
Yes! Yes! Yes! This! That is science and it is so wonderful!
Today’s quote comes from the great Carl Sagan.
“For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.” – Carl Sagan
This is so true. Why live in delusion when reality is some much better and so much more satisfying? Carl, you left us far too soon!
